resized__145x243_Charlene_OverellHi - my name is Charlene Overell and I’m really excited to inform you that I have joined G3 Financial Freedom Ltd as their fourth shareholder and director, so I thought I’d share with you a little about myself, my background and why I’ve decided to join Gail, Tracey, Jane and their office manager Cathy.

I immigrated to New Zealand from the UK in November 2005 with my husband, daughter and son and I can’t believe how quickly time has flown. It’s exciting to know that in just over 6 months we qualify to become New Zealand citizens! We came here for a few reasons really, to escape the ‘rat race’ that we felt we were in, to allow us to enjoy a more outdoors way of life and to find space, fun, a balanced lifestyle and of course, better weather! …………all of which I’m happy to report we’ve found. It wasn’t without hard work of course, yet because we came here without any expectations, everything we’ve experienced has exceeded our hopes and desires and we’ve been blessed with some great friendships.

We now live in Te Puna and love the views we have of the Kaimai ranges and the harbour – we feel so fortunate to be living in such a beautiful country and the Bay is glorious. Our children have convinced us to take on a small menagerie, hence we now have 9 chickens, 4 guinea pigs, a cat and our most recent edition – a 13 week old puppy from the SPCA – “no rest for the wicked” they say!!

As far as my career goes, I’ve been employed within the financial services industry all of my working life…….dare I say it – around 26 years, and have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in various arenas. I have worked with clients with a diverse range of needs and have advised on Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Family Protection, Personal and Trust Investments and Business Risk Planning. My passion is for developing enjoyable and long term relationships with my clients where I can add value to their financial affairs and work with them to help them achieve their goals and objectives. I believe it’s imperative to always put my client’s interest first and to work closely with their other professional advisers so that the client gets the best and most positive outcomes for their circumstances as possible. That’s why I also believe advisers in our industry need to undertake professional level qualifications and continue to develop their skills.

I am a Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM) which means that I have taken the extra step to demonstrate my professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the rigorous CFP certification process by the Institute of Financial Advisers that includes demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. I have also earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation from the Centre for Fiduciary Studies (www.fi360.com) University of Pittsburgh, USA which means that I understand how and why to implement fiduciary practices for my clients. I am also currently studying via Massey University to achieve my Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the Institute of Financial Advisers. All of this means that like my co-directors, I am committed to ongoing education and professionalism so that our clients can be assured that we’re always providing the best advice for their specific needs and we can ensure that we develop and implement best practices within our business for this advice.

My own personal values are based around family and friendship, trust, honesty, caring for and helping others, growing as an individual and having fun; these I guess, are why I’m thrilled and very comfortable to be joining G3 Financial Freedom Limited. My co-directors have similar principles to mine and I know that our vision of becoming one of the top three financial planning practices in New Zealand within 5 years, is based upon our belief in these values so that we provide high quality, valued, ‘client first’ advice and service, incorporating best practice systems and processes within our business and being genuine and honest with our dealings with everyone, whilst also having fun!

I hope that I’ve have given you a little insight into my life and career and it would be great to be able to meet you soon, so please do feel free to give us a call.
